I suggest you go try them out before buying them because they are all trucks and they all have the ability to do what you're wanting to do.

Smokeys are the least freeride-esque trucks of the three you've mentioned but that doesn't mean you can't freeride on them (for example, Kyle Martin rides '08 Smokeys).

You really just can't ask people what their opinions are and expect that your experiences will be the same as theirs. What I might like in a ride, you might despise. Go to Motion and try out as many trucks as you can, go to sessions and ask people with the trucks you want to ride if you can give their setup a go.

Not to mention, if you're asking these sorts of basic questions, most people would say you should ride more and learn what it is you like about certain trucks/setups before diving into the expensive world of precisions. Anything you can do on a set of precisions can be done on a set of Randals (this is coming from someone who almost exclusively rides precisions...).

Get then new 50 degree grizzleys and flip them for dh. Or get 840s for DH and the 852s for freeride its cheaper then precisions and those are awesome trucks.

I really like the munkaes for freeride just tighten em a bit for DH. I also like nimbus. the front/front is great. but try all the precisions you can and make a choice. I also like the randal DH precisions. but they roll way fast cuz of the floating axle

I have a nimbus back/back setup and i think a front front setup would be great for freeride, b/b grips mad hard, but they're still a blast, they're so easy to hold out standies, but can still take corners easily, really can't even tell you how stoked i am on them.

I can freeride and go 45+ on them with the same exact bushing setup without even tightening them, and they still feel rock solid. Also they rail corners for days. Only problem with them is a 194 hangar is a little too big for my liking, wish i snatched up a pair of 184's when they were still in production, but i don't really mind.

(they're all i freeride on now....) but yeah everyone will have different experiences with different trucks, so as people above had said just try as many as you can to get a feel for what you like and don't like.

Pretty much with any precision you're going to get strength and quality unless you buy from some random ass company - i early grabbed a 7 stair in my nimbus, and am always early grabbing big stuff.. no sign of bent axels or anything.. . My disclaimer is that i've only ridden nimbus and am quite biased for them.

First you should learn how trucks work and how boards work. Randal has a great writeup on their website about truck geometry. Get to know what trucks you like and more importantly what you like about them and why they behave that way.

you like how the truck leans? why does it lean that way? things like that.

lol youve owned them all but your comment was the least informative?
i have ridden a plethora of precision trucks and i gotta say they are a step up and some of them feel really good, but often they seem like they are for a specific thing. like some of the dh trucks have crazy angles. personally i tend to switch between dh and freeride while im miles and miles from a new setup option and i find that cast trucks work well for all around, (although surf rodz seem to be non specialized cast trucks on steroids..)
i thought that there would be a HUGE difference from cast to prescision but its not that big a deal unless you are talkin about DH trucks and then its huge.
but for the price i just feel a bigger difference out of the board so i tend to just get more boards and run cast trucks. kahas, smokeys, and munkaes, do not feel the same. i'm a lil confused as to how your hung up on the three but i would get to know them all before marrying one. cause an untimely divorce will basically mean you wasted time riding the trucks that arent for you. and none of them are unstable even slalom trucks are fun down hills right up until you have to turn hard...

Billionz, get Surf Rodz 176mm with the axle system so you can go 176, 186 and 196. Versatile, versatile versatile. Let me know if you need a pair.

Surf-Rodz are an option but their bushing seat is no better than that of a Randal. The axles are truer and slightly stronger, but other than that... You may as well ride a Randal.

Randals grind better, anyway.
