Portland some would be easier on april 4th causeit's earlier in the weekend, but some would be easier on the 5th because most have sunday off. Either wau weekend is where it's at for Oregon

Have you tried driving between these hills and throwing heats down them in this order, do you think you'll be able to finish before it gets dark if you're starting as late as 11:00am?

Get Spencer to donate some truck prototypes (or just a half price deal? :D ) to the winners pot and I'll skip the Salem slalom to come up there to check it out!

Chinese means everyone goes at once, the "theme" part of the race is the old school tuck, buttboard, thingamajig part.

Yeah the points will work like that, it might get changed to the top ten though, i'll figure it out. I think the time will work out, I remember the last outlaw went pretty quick, we just wont be able to goof around until we're in the neighborhood where the last two races take place.

Blake, chinese style means everyone goes at once.

Casey you should skip the slalom and come to this anyways, i bet it will be better :)

Anti, I don't have a car of my own currently but my girlfriend may let me borrow hers, I'll talk to her about it. We are driving it up to Seattle the weekend before, so that'd be putting a lot of miles on it. She probably won't mind though, considering she drove it out here from Colorado in the first place... If you think you can rack up the points go for it. Shoreview hill is about 45-50mph.

The first part drops into a straight that just gets you going really quick and then it goes into a right sweeper then to a left sweeper then another drop into the bottom. It's just like a roller coaster, and it got paved not long ago so it's really nice and smooth. The only things wrong with it is there are these little ripples in parts of the road that just feel a little bumpy and it might sketch some people out but it's not bad. The second thing is at the bottom of the hill there is a little pot hole in the middle of the road so at the bottom you need to stay to either side of the lane.

I talked to her last night about using her car and she wasn't too keen on it. However, I'm planning on buying a car soon and I've found one that fits my bill. I emailed the guy and am waiting for a response, so there's a very small chance I might have a car before the race. If that happens, then were good to go, if not, I've got a free companion fair voucher for the train, so we could get two one way tickets for the price of one and I might be able to convince one of my parents to drive us back down. I'll keep ya posted.

Totally fine, you'll probably have to help out with spotting and such though.

WARNING: Z-turns is a little more intense than I remember in terms of sewer grates you'll have to dodge and everything. I took a good spill on it today and leathers will definitely help so WEAR LEATHERS!. If you have them of course. If not, wear full pads.

ok cool. im not really a noob iv just never skated with more than 1 person around me, and id like to skate in a pack of 4 or so a few times before id race in one. spring break is in 10days so il be free all week if anyone wants to skate some hills so i could get used to being in a pack.

ATTENTION DRIVERS
I've been thinking and we will actually drive to z-turns to save some time. People with leathers or heavier gear and everything won't have to lug it around too. It would be nice if everyone could spread the word about this. I don't know how many knew we originally planned to skate there on the trail but now we're doing it this way.

I don't really know what corners you're talking about. There is only one actual turn/sweeper in the race section and one at the bottom. I'm thinking three will be perfect. Not too many people and you'll still get the pack racing feel.

That sucks dude! What happened?

i was skating richmond beach on the road that leads down to the beach. After the corner while I was in the parking lot my wheel was caught on the metal grate. It flung me off and I landed on my elbow, so now I have a possibly fractured elbow plus a cracked rib. In a week ill get a CT scan that will determine a break or not.

*THE 2009 SHORELINE OUTLAW RACE WILL TAKE PLACE APRIL 5th*
THE RULES
-PDX point system (1st gets the most points and so on)

-Anybody can come and have fun, you dont have to race

*THERE WILL BE A 5 DOLLAR ENTRY FEE THAT WILL GO DIRECTLY TOWARDS ANYONE WHO IS DRIVING* We need drivers!! Contact me if you are able to drive! People who do drive will still have to pay the fee but will have that given back when we pay for your gas.

THE RACES
1st race: Z-turns
2nd race: Shoreview hill
3rd race: Richmond beach line
4th race: Bella Coola
5th race: Chinese style, themed race on Makah. Anything except regular stand-up tuck. (ex. buttboard, luge, old school)

Practice run: one on each hill, no heats, everyone will go at once.

THE PRIZES(may vary)
Prizes are available for the top 3 racers!
1st- Set of wheels
2nd- Set of bushings or a t-shirt
3rd- Skate tool

Registration will start at 10:00am at Motion Board Shop before the races start at 11:00am.
If you want to race you have to register! If you dont feel like you have the skill to race you do not have to race but you still have to register and pay the fee. People who want to race will tell me when they register.
Everyone who registers to race will randomly have their name pulled out of a container before every heat on a hill to determine who they will be racing in the four man heat.

I am actually pretty intimidated. I've barely skated ANY of these hills. The most I've skated any hill is Makah, and I've only done z-turns in parts... 2 years ago.

Regardless, it'll be fun. Sounds like there is going to be a hell of a turnout! stoked!

I just skated z-turns today...all i'm going to say is footbreaking won't do shit for you down this hill.

If you don't know how to predrift or footbreak very efficiently your pretty much toast down this hill when it comes to racing.

Sounds like a blast! I've never skated any of these hills so I'm stoked to see what Shoreline has to offer.

I think we should get more than one for each hill and having everyone go at once on any of the hills would be pretty dangerous. We need to make sure that we have enough spotters and radios because Z turns and Richmond beach line will be too dangerous without them.

I'm sure that we'll have more than enough spotters and i was thinking about those radios. We'll need a set or two for spotters and for the start and finish line.
For the practice run, we won't have enough time for more than one. When i said we all go at once i meant in separate groups one after another with whoever you want, it just wont be organized like the race heats will be.

This is called the Shoreline Outlaw RACE. I shouldn't need to explain any further. Depending how time goes, we might be able to freeride a few areas after we race. We will most likely freeride the bella coola neighborhood a bit before we go back to MoBo for prizes. Keep in mind that this is the only (i'm pretty sure) race that has a series of races in ONE day. Will you even be skating by the time of the race Connor?

1st race: Z-turns
2nd race: Shoreview hill
3rd race: Richmond beach line
4th race: Bella Coola
5th race: Chinese style, themed race on Makah. Anything except regular stand-up tuck. (ex. buttboard, luge, old school)

Practice run: one on each hill, no heats, everyone will go at once.

THE PRIZES(may vary)
Prizes are available for the top 3 racers!
1st- Set of wheels
2nd- Set of bushings or a t-shirt
3rd- Skate tool

Registration will start at 10:00am at Motion Board Shop before the races start at 11:00am.
If you want to race you have to register! If you dont feel like you have the skill to race you do not have to race but you still have to register and pay the fee. People who want to race will tell me when they register.
Everyone who registers to race will randomly have their name pulled out of a container before every heat on a hill to determine who they will be racing in the four man heat.

Bad news. The northwest riders bus that would have been able to shuttle 15 riders wont be available on the 5th. That means that we need a lot of drivers with bigger cars. If it comes down to it we will have to double buckle haha.

Drivers!
Just to let you know, Motion Boardshop's parking lot is really small so it will fill up quick if everyone parks there. Everyone who is NOT driving to the hills needs to park in the bigger lot across the street. This will make it easier for racers to get into a car so we can get out of there faster and not crowd MoBo's lot. Thanks.

Well that was fun. But Since I think we all only got about 10 runs in I think we should definatly just do one hill next time. Once we get all this business cleaned up in LFP we should have a race at Z-turns.

I was really stoked to see people coming all the way from portland and federal way. I hope it was worth your trouble.

Oh and thanks to everyone who helped with spoting, filming, taking photos, providing rides and al of that good stuff.

Then after Shoreview, Rain had left the list, so we went back for it and saw 3 kids who had been left behind. Then on our way out- a cop passed.
I think that Fire Dept. truck that saw us at Richmond Beach reported us and the popos came.

I do agree that Shoreview is a fun hill but it is definatly not a good race hill for and outlaw at least. There were just way to many cars and people which ended up ruining are plan to ride the third hill. If we want to race it we should either try to get it closed off or just do it really early in the morning.

yes it was great i was kinda sad that i could not match up to any one some time i want to host one for people of lower skills and do easier hills. All in all it was very fun i liked it a lot, even though my board was a little short. haha. There was to many people i think but that also made it very fun. let me just say one last thing

Alright well I'm going to give a write up for those who weren't there and just cause I feel like it ha.

I arrived at the shop around 10 and saw a buttload of people and was immediately stoked with the great turnout. I was also impressed with the shop themselves...they brought a bunch more boards than when I was there 2 weeks ago. They really have diversified there line up of boards and gear and I give major props to motion for that. The first hill Z-turns IMO was my favorite. There are 4 sharp hairpins with a good 10 ft drop in some of them and your able to top it off with some shitty ass pavement. Trying to survive the hill is brutal enough next to racing it. I was the first heat up with Ryan, Dennis, and Nick if I remember correctly. I was able to push up front with Dennis on my outside in the first turn. We picked up speed and I noticed everyone was going for the inside and suspected a wreck and took the outside and made it out luckily. Now we're going through the straight with some pretty good speed into 3rd turn. Ryan was at my side brakes a bit and I just dive in taking a crappy outside line but I make it through. Now the last turn is coming up and Dennis is right on my tail. I kick out my back end and scrubbed too much speed, which lead Dennis running straight into me. Ryan cruises past us and I'm able to push into second. As I hiked up to the 3rd turn i saw some sick other heats. The first was with Jerica having a killer lead but unfortunately scrubbed out on the outside. There was a super sketch one with Allan getting a mad wobble exiting the 3rd turn but then again he was on a short ass board on small trucks and hard wheels but props to him for ripping on that. The most impressive I saw on Z-turns was probably Erik who just charged and totally gripped the inside line.

The second hill was Shoreview, which was probably not the best for racing with the flow of traffic but it's damn fast hill with small ripples you can feel at sections through sweepers, the righty at the bottom probably topped out it off cuz it can really creep up on you. I decided to take the hill chill with Connor cuz I wasn't comfortable on it yet with only 1 run down it. However as were both carving and made it to the last turn Connor tucked the last straight and I did for a bit but stood up to air brake and oddly enough I sped up pretty quick and wasn't trying to take the turn 2-wide. So I threw a foot down but i didn't pay attention to where I braked and unluckily stepped on my wheel, supermanning me across the pavement. When we were getting ready to leave this random guy starts jotting license plate numbers like mad...it was ridiculous but we bounced. The next hill was Richmond Beach Lines, which we only got to freeride and do practice runs because of the cop trouble that showed up. However during practice runs it was sick to watch Dennis get some mad early grabs in, especially the one over EK that was damn epic.

The fourth hill Bella Coola we were luckily able to race. Bella Coola is one of my favorite runs in the Edmonds area, it starts off with a medium-short steep drop into sick lefty with pretty bad pavement. Then your on decent straight that's kind of uphill for a bit but start to slop down giving you enough speed for the righty that can be drifty if you don't take a good line, the righty shoots you into the final straight that has nice pavement and is decently steep with a good right sweeper at the end. In my race heat I had Spencer, Connor, me, and I forget the last person's name sorry. I get a good push in and lead into the first lefty and scrub out to much and Connor gets a good pass in. Unfortunately coming out of my heelside I felt like my hip was going to pop out of its socket it sucked and prevented me from tucking but I was still able to hold on to 2nd. We moved on to makah and did the Chinese themed race but I don't think it counted since it wouldn't be fair for all the people starting in the back. It was pretty fun everyone was just mobbing down the road and practically taking over haha but it was definitely sketchy with all the people who were wobbling down. To end it off we did another run but just in our regular tuck and had a scary start when a car was coming up and we were heading down but we managed to get everyone to one side without any spills luckily. We all headed back to motion for pizza and awards. On our way there we went by S-turns and decided to take one quick run with Gabe, Spencer, and Connor. It was probably the best run I've had on that hill the weather was perfect with a warm breeze and sun about to set. It pretty much gave me that extra urge to try and help get longboarding in lfp outlawed.

It technically is decriminalized, that's why they can give us that fat fine now. Not to hassle you Kaleb just saying. It is going to be awesome to be able to skate those lfp hills without having to worry about getting fined though.

thanks a bunch to everyone for the stoke. i had a great time, got to meet some new faces and got to ride with some great riders. i had a blast.. casey, i'll see you at the switchbacks! ..thats if i have a ride.
