We have done some poker runs here in Spokane and we came up with a small sheet that has many decks of cards printed on them and the skaters get this sheet rubber stamped. Each place where they get a card they would instead get a stamp that was specific to that spot.

What this does is makes keeping track of the cards and limits potential trading of the cards to keep things honest (not that skaters would ever do something like that.

You only need as many decks of cards as you have stops (5 or 7) the cards are not destroyed for the next event. You can geet rubber stamps at any arts and crafts store, I got a set of 16 with extra ink pads for about $10.

So all the racers need is a photocopied deck of cards, and the contestants take it with them to the 5 checkpoints and we deal them a "card" by rubber stamping the corresponding face card on the sheet Bingo style? I can easily find 5 cheap rubber stamps nobody will have and yeah, it will prevent "cheatage"

The big deal for us longboarders will be the push race / poker run. Some of you were in last year's race at SnoCon and might remember the course. It's choppy and flat all the way out, and then you run up the Pike Street Hillclimb steps and BOMB back down to the store on Western Ave. It's a scenic and somewhat intense ride with all the traffic and pedestrians ON A SATURDAY. And you gotta have a HELMET to play of course, so don't forget it.

Are you lame, broken, or tired and can't do the pusher? I may need a couple VOLUNTEERS to run the poker run checkpoints! You'll be decked out in a shiny new Snowboard Connection t-shirt that you can keep and there may be some other cool stuff in it for you. It will take about an hour of your time and should be a blast to behold. I'll be stamping people at the FINISH LINE, so race fair!

What else is going on. We got a DJ so there will be Jams. We'll have a grill going so you can get your grub on after the pusher, freebies to give away, a bunch of mini ramps to mess around on in front of the store, and we're just gonna skate skate skate all day so come and play!

Just FYI, my "crew" is everyone from Northwestlongboarding.com, and that means Shane (wilder) who came out to spread stoke and run a checkpoint for the pusher, Kevin (lo-rez) who found us and also volunteered to man a checkpoint, Dennis, who won the pusher (his first 1st place finish!) and then tried to find a kid to give his Prize Board too! You're a class act Dennis, even if we didn't find a suitable recipient for that badass Gravity Logan model you won.

I can't say thanks to anybody without saying thanks to my very cool and hardest working dude, brother Paul who ran a checkpoint off the seat of his scooter, helped build ramps, haul gear, shoot video and photos and put together the mean video you see at Lostlongboards.com!

Most of all, let's be very grateful that we have a gigantic and uber cool sponsor like Snowboard Connection to throw a bash like this. Did you know we CLOSED ALASKAN WAY for the day to host some 500 skaters? Did anyone notice the FRESH blacktop under the Viaduct too? It was like BUTTER!!
